Another great song and video to share with you, this time from London it is Obscenity State with their new single 'Shine'. We hope to hear a lot more from this band in the coming months, they look very promising to us. Links:  |   Website  |   Facebook  |   Instagram  |   Spotify  |

VIDEO: Winter Gardens - Coral Bells

Yesterday, one our special agents gave us the heads-up about a local band called Winter Gardens and after watching the video for their new single, 'Coral Bells', we were rather impressed. We are pleased to say that we have already made contact with the band and will, hopefully, be able to play the track on our show in the very near future. It is a corker! The single is available on limited edition coloured 7" vinyl from Austerity Records . Links:  |   Website  |   Twitter  |   Facebook  |

VIDEO: Pindhar - Toy

You may have heard us playing a terrific track called 'Toy' by Pinhdar on our radio show? Well, Pinhdar have just released this video to promote the track and it is absolutely wonderful. All done in one-shot, much like the motion of the camera, the visual really draws you in. We love it when the video is as good as the music. Links:  |   Facebook  |   Spotify   |   Apple Music   |

DANDELION RADIO: March Show Recording

On Saturday, after first enjoying some lunch at the Yummy Noodle Bar, we recorded our March show for Dandelion Radio . Further information will be announced shortly, but we can say that the 2-hour show includes a special 'Postcard From Japan' section courtesy of Lee ( Thomas Imposter Records ) and kiYOmi (from Astro-B ). We are hoping to include more special features and sessions in the coming shows as they are always great fun.

TRACK: Evi Vine - Sabbath

We are rather fond of Evi Vine on The Beatbox Saboteurs' show and this corking track called 'Sabbath' really hit the right note with us. Taken from the album ' Black Light, White Dark' it is a complete stormer! To add to the interest we have just noticed that the track was produced & mixed by Dave Izumi at Echozoo Studios, Eastbourne - just up the road from where we record the radio show. Small world. Anyway, here's the rather worrying video.

TRACK: Esra Oygur - Uprising

This enjoyable piece of neo-classical music featured in our January show, it is 'Uprising' by Esra Oygur.

It features the actress, Ingvild Deila, on vocals and is taken from their album 'Necessary Animals'. The album features our very own Mr Blu, we highly recommend the vinyl edition! EP REVIEW: Deaf - The Deaf EP

Deaf's 'The Deaf EP' impressed me from the very start, a collection of five deftly crafted songs that veer from thoughtful elegance to something more muscular and biting. At times they sound like a classic indie band from a time before the age of the internet, before the world became saturated and obese. There's real sophistication in the arrangements, alongside expressive vocals, some terrific guitar/bass interplay, you get rolling drums, ambient intros and just the right amount of synth augmentation. All five tracks stride along confidently and are equally as good as each other. A really terrific debut, I can't wait to hear more. Top Tracks:   Dead End, Shards,Truancy. ALBUM REVIEW: Vanguardista Records - Winter Solstice

The stresses of the festive season are almost upon us, so this compilation album of laidback soundscapes with a wintry theme is a perfect way to grab some quiet time. There are a few vocal tracks but this is primarily an album of beautiful, ambient and delicate instrumentals. Great to hear some of the acts that we have featured on our radio show and thankfully not even a hint of jingle bells or whimsy. The listening experience is a welcome pleasure. ALBUM REVIEW: Cariño - Movidas

As regular listeners to our radio show will know, we are rather partial to Spanish acts, with  Cariño being one of the bands we have been enjoying immensely this year. There is something rather refreshing in their effervescent approach to indie-pop. 'Movidas' is  Cariño's  new mini-abum, released as part of Elefant Records' 'New Adventure In Pop' series, it features 'Canción De Pop De Amor' and 'Momento Inadecuado' from their excellent first single, plus a further six new recordings. With jangly guitars and bright synths throughout, like the sun glistening on the sea on a summer's day, each track and lyrical story, sparkles with charm and warmth. Concise and constantly endearing with a cheeky, subversive twist, 'Movidas' is a genuine treat.  'Movidas' is available now on download & numbered-limited-edition 10" pink vinyl. Top Tracks:     Canción De Pop De Amor, Bisexual, Momento Inadecuado. Label:   Elefant Re...

ALBUM REVIEW: The Sun Aesthetic - Holly

The Sun Aesthetic's album 'Holly' comprises of six gentle instrumentals; each one a delight in its own right, but together, they flow seamlessly. There's a thoughtful, almost music-box quality about them, simple yet intricate, the tickling rhythmic patterns carry you along in a bright, carefree manner. Grab yourself a coffee and a pastry, then sit down and play this whilst looking out the window. Have a moment to yourself.  Top Tracks:    Fall, Leaves. ALBUM REVIEW: Adwaith - Melyn

I have been trying to get my hands on Adwaith for a few months now. No, not because they've been scrumping from the orangery or doing anything mischievous; I just wanted to hear them and play them on our radio show. Finally, after a little persistence, a copy of their album 'Melyn' (for the ignorant, like me, that's Welsh for "Yellow") landed with me and...(faux dramatic pause)...it was well worth the wait. The first thing that struck me was the variety in sound and texture, it was much, much more engaging and experimental than I had expected. The second dawning was that, not being very literate in Welsh (I only know 'bore da' and 'traed bach'), I had no idea what Adwaith were singing about, even the track titles were a complete mystery. But that was the beauty, the Welsh language is poetic and that gives the vocals a wonderful, natural flow. I was expecting a collection guitar-led tracks, but Adwaith don't do indie-by-numbers, the...

ALBUM REVIEW: Clara Engel - A Shore Far From Any Prison

Every so often, when we are looking around for new artists to feature on our radio show, we accidentally stumble upon something unexpectedly wonderful. As far as I can remember, it was an innocuous Twitter posting from Clara which prompted me to go and listen to her on Bandcamp. What I discovered was a gentle, thoughtful and lovingly-crafted set of tracks. With the album 'A Shore Far From Any Prison' you get five dreamy, stripped-back, guitar & vocal recordings with an interesting lyrical quality. Intimate and contemplative, her voice almost fragile at times, this is the sound of a musician allowing us to glimpse into her world, and we thank her for that. Simply gorgeous. EP REVIEW: Whettman Chelmets - Alas... The Sun is Shining and You are Still Alive

Whettman Chelmets is a recent discovery for us and we have really been enjoying his material over the last few weeks, that's why we have played a couple of tracks from 'Annihilate Your Masters' on our Dandelion Radio show. So, it was a welcome surprise when a new release by Whettman called 'Alas... The Sun Is Shining And You Are Still Alive' landed in our inbox for us to listen to. A set of three instrumentals with a distinctly spiralling sheen of blended guitar fuzz, these are possibly even more our cup of tea than the previous collection of tracks. Dirty noise with glacial elegance, yes please! Put the kettle on, Merriman! 'Alas... The Sun Is Shining And You Are Still Alive' is available here Release Date: 02 November 2018 Label:  Submarine Broadcasting Company Links:  |   Twitter |   Facebook  |   Bandcamp  | Alas...
