REVIEW: Pinhdar - Pinhdar

Pinhdar are Cecilia Miradoli and Max Tarenzi, both founder members of the rock band Nomoredolls. The first track I heard by Pinhdar was a track called 'Toy', as an introduction to the band, it was an instant winner. There was something completely engaging about it, the complexity of sound delivered with a wonderfully expressive vocal gave it real character and quality. Happily, that feeling continues throughout their album, the variation and intricacy of the instrumentation perfectly supports Cecilia's sensual but free-spirited voice. Part of the enjoyment is that there's no sense of knowing what will be next, each track is a new discovery. Quieter, reflective moments are interspersed with powerful, almost politely riotous moments. Pinhdar allow the listener to glimpse into their world but hold just enough back to retain that sense of intrigue. Intimate and absorbing, with a distinct musical texture, Pinhdar are crafting songs for longevity. Top Tracks:  Toy, Ov

IN CONVERSATION: Obscenity State

IN CONVERSATION WITH: OBSCENITY STATE Please introduce yourself...  I’m Nilly, the lead from Obscenity State. How would you describe your music?  Driven, energetic, electro noir, delivered with a lot of attitude amidst insistent dance rhythms and post-punk sensibilities. What are you doing at the moment?  Preparing all that’s involved in releasing tracks. I’m releasing various singles over the next few months with the EP coming out in May/June. I’m also working on the live aspect, developing audio-visual patches that i’ll be able to incorporate into certain performances. What is the best thing about making music?  There are so many but I guess having a strong sense of purpose trumps the list. You are only allowed to keep one of your tracks, which one would you choose and why?  The next one I write- I like to look forward. How involved are you in the creative process surrounding your releases?   Obscenity State is a solo project that’s performed live with a ban

ALBUM REVIEW: Uniforms - Polara

Last year, when we volunteered to DJ for Dandelion Radio, the Spanish band, Uniforms , were one of the first bands we discovered when casually browsing Bandcamp for new music. Looking back now, it was a very lucky moment for us; something about the artwork (maybe the Kraftwerkian pose?) for their self-released EP Equals  caught our attention and the striking music resulted in an immediate affection for the band. We really enjoyed playing those early tracks on our radio show. Fast-forward a few months, after some personnel changes, Uniforms signed to the new Spanish label, Oso Polita and their debut album, ' Polara ', was recorded and released. I should explain that this review for 'Polara' is a rather late, but that's mainly due to some comedic ineptitude on my part. Read on... The record label sent me a physical copy of the album and it took a little time to arrive in the post, all the way from Spain, but when it did arrive I was slightly amazed to have
